39ft Classic Timber Yacht "Huon Lass"
A true Tasmanian classic built for apple farmer ,yachtsman and raconteur Hedley Calvert by master boatbuilder Max Creese in Hobart 1965.
Construction of Mahogany and Huon Pine "Huon Lass was designed by British naval architect Robert Clark who had designed the famous Caprice of Huon for Hedleys father 15 years previously. A most competitive yacht in her class with a 6th across the line and 2nd in division 1 ,1966 Sydney to Hobart plus line honors in many offshore Tasmanian races inspiring comment to the Hobart Mercury from renown boat builder /sailer Jock Muir "Tasmania's south run was the hardest we had encountered made even more impressive with Calverts "Huon Lass" racing before the gale carrying a spinnaker, 'Ive never been on or seen a yacht handled better than Huon Lass was'.
Now moored in Pittwater with same owner for last 20 years. She is sailed nearly every week and maintained in beautiful original condition with recently painted hull & decks, Other upgrades include new alloy spars and stainless rigging.
